I found coaching through participating in Better Together! The invitation to join the program could not have come at a better time. I was a second-year resident in the thick of the pandemic with a 1- and 3-year-old at home, on the fast track to burnout and contemplating leaving medicine all together. Raising young kids as a medical trainee often left me feeling torn—like I was falling short both at work and at home. Coaching helped me see how my own inner dialogue amplified that overwhelm, keeping me from being fully present for my patients and my family. Coaching also helped me gain clarity on my career goals and allowed me to pursue a path that was aligned with my values and not perceived expectations. I am excited to use coaching tools to create a space where people can access self-efficacy and agency when so much of the external feels out of their control.
